The Underground Alliance and Matthew Hopkins Witchfinder are very pleased to present:
Seven Churches - Volume I
To call Hopkins and I musical obsessive's is the understatement of the century.....
...
This is who you are when you a) Spend more money on records than you do on underpants b) Risk alienating your loved ones by spending more time at The Underworld than sitting at home watching movies with the missus c) Can play airbass to whole of Jerusalem by Sleep
But we fucking love it....
It would seem that Britain is spoilt with a great wealth of bands, perhaps its the mood or the weather, well whatever it is, we want to showcase it. We are hoping to make this into a continuous series of events, using bands not strictly from the norm and whom very rarely get an opportunity to play somewhere like Kingston upon Thames.
Black/Doom/Drone/Death/Sludge/Prog/Funeral - anything goes

So what do you get when you cross 8 bands, a jukebox full of Maiden, hand pumped ales, 36 Saint Vitus T Shirts, Zine and Merch fares and probably the entire beard population of England.
Seven Churches - Volume I (The Beginning)
Winterfylleth - A black metal band from Manchester, celebrating themes of England’s Anglo-Saxon Heritage. Recently Candlelight Records released 'The Mercian Sphere' topped everyones 2010 top 10 lists.
For fans of Wolves in the Throne Room and Wodensthrone

Black Sun - Black Sun as ‘Black Sun Machine’ was formed in Glasgow as a solo side project initially in the demise of the 20th Century by Russell McEwan. Sludgy, noisy and damn weird. It ticks all the right boxes and Hopkins is getting a stiffy just thinking about them.
For fans of Unearthly Trance and US Christmas

Age of Taurus - Who better to give me a bio for Londoners 'Age of Taurus' than career breaker Fenriz from Darkthrone:
"Someone gave me their cd at the Metal Merchants Festival (I discovered when i emptied out my bag the day after). After listening, it was dead obvious that this would be the next band of the week, they play doom metal the way i like it, the 70's 80's style, not the dogmatic stuff that came later (when EVERYTHING is slow, what's up with THAT?!). So this band is for fans of Trouble, Revelation demo 2&3, 1st Candlemass, Black Sabbath/Pentagram and so forth" - Nuff said really.

Bong - Bong is a Sleep-worship band consisting of Mike Smith (Drums), Dave Terry (Bass), Mike Vest (Guitar) and Ben Freeth (Sitar). They have a self titled demo, as well as Bethmoora (EP), 7” split with Gnod, a 12” split with Quttinirpaaq as well as numerous live albums. We had em here a couple of months ago with Ufomammut and they absolutely blew the crowd apart with there haunting rhythms and monolithic howls.

Groan - They say the signs have been obvious to us all yet we choose to ignore them. They say the gathering of the four music makers from the four corners of Albion will signal the coming of interesting times. Choosing to ignore such talk is akin to choosing to ignore the feeling of intense sensual overload when viewing Zooey Deschanel. Spaced out medieval heavy power fuzz rock is what they give you… Embrace it… turn off the TV and embrace… let your body and brain observe and digest the otherworldly.

Dopefight - Dopefight are a three-piece Sludge/Doom/Stoner band from Brighton, UK. Influences range from Bongzilla to Fudge Tunnel. To date they have released a Demo CD, Split EP and an Album - Buds. Beer spilling riffs and thunderous drums, these guys are gonna help you get your sonic sway on. The folks up in London have been lucky enough to witness them a couple of times already, so we're salivating at the thought of them tearing up Kingston.

Bast - Local lads representing Kingstons burgeoning Doom scene. Loud intriniscal guitars and pummeling tribal drumming culminating in a blanket of anger and despair. Crushing thunderous vocals and black metal howls.
For fans of Nachtmystium and Neurosis

Rise of the Simians - Crawling up from the slag heap of Hastings, comes the feral noise of Rise of the Simians. Melding the doom of old within their sound, somewhere between Capricorns, Autopsy and mid-period Neurosis. Blackened, knuckle scrapping rank doom.
