I don't care to merge them. There are some grey areas, but for the most part there's a distinction in the sound between Prince solo, The Revolution, The New Power Generation, and 3RDEYEGIRL. He didn't just want to make them feel like a family in name. The members of the named bands feature prominently at times. Plus, what's wrong with Prince showing up multiple times on my charts?

Marge with what? Prince recorded and released music under various aliases, so these recordings need to be appropriately labeled. By the way, Last.fm cannot technically merge anything; it's not possible.

1999 should be counted as an album here, the band was a thing during 1999 and they all worked on that album with Prince. The album cover even says in the eye "and the revolution" backwards

The decision lies entirely with you, whether you continue using streaming services (which are accountable for this confusion) or opt for the traditional method. 1) It is 100% Prince all over these tunes. 2) Why we need separate entries if the bands were only a gimmick for Prince to have more fun and the sense of familly? 3) It is people who decide what they are listening to because this site is about listening habbits not archival acuracy. If they are listening olny Prince, and for Prince, one entre is not a total madness. 4) More entries create impression that Prince is less popular than he really is.

1) It's not just 100% Prince, as there are still other members that get specific credits and were just as essential to those albums as Prince was. 2) They weren't just a gimmick, and they definitely were a major component of those albums. 3) I just prefer to be as accurate as possible in connection with my listening. Is that too crazy to imagine? Never said anything about it being madness if everything was under Prince. I can still separate the artist tags even if that were to happen. 4) Lol no. Most everything he did is still under Prince, and a large majority of people on here just throttle everything through Prince anyway. Dumping all of his projects together isn't going to boost it all that much. There's no way that Prince's popularity can be hurt because of separate entries on last.fm, lol.

"Should be merged with Prince, he did almost all the studio work on these albums as well"...I won't be doing it...It's Prince and the Revolution until Sign 'O' The Times, then Prince & The New Power Generation afterwards...I'll keep them separate thank you.
