Biography

Andrew Nieporent & the Nonspecifics are a band from Bergen County, New Jersey, featuring singer-songwriter Andrew Nieporent (acoustic rhythm guitar, vocals), Adam Biener (Sherazada) (electric lead guitar), Jay Everett (The Jay Everett Band) (bass, harmony vocals), and Tom Ng (drums, percussion).

The band formed in the fall of 2007 when Adam, Jay, and Tom began playing along with Andrew at regular open mic nights. What began as mild accompaniment evolved into solid full band arrangements for Andrew's increasingly strong acoustic folk songs.

They played their first show in January 2008 in the basement of a church in Pearl River, NY (God's Basement), and spent the first half of the year recording their first album. The result of much hard work is Sometimes Crazy Works, which was released on July 12th, 2008, quickly selling out its first pressing. The band is now looking to play out to audiences all over the North Jersey area, and beyond.

The band's musical style is unique and completely their own, taking influence from everything from indie to classic rock to metal to pop-punk and more, showing the diversity of the band's membership.

All four members are students at Ramapo College of New Jersey in Mahwah, NJ and are heavily involved in the Bergen County coffeehouse scene, which has also produced such acts as The Jay Everett Band, Darrin Bradbury, Steve Carter, Dan Scarpa, and the Duke of Stash.
