Born in Rochefort on August 19, 1962, French organist Bruno Beaufils studied music and law in Brest. He studied the organ successively with Jean Boyer, Michel Bouvard, François Espinasse and François-Henri Houbart. In 1987, he joined Brigitte François-Sappey's music history class at the CNSM in Paris. He was also a lecturer at the Instrumental Museum of the Conservatoire until 1989.
