Having played the saxophone in The Thunderbirds and then The Saphires, Colin Cook (who was born in Bacca, India, but had moved to Melbourne, Australia, with his family in 1952) left to become a solo singer in the early 1960s. He became a popular rock 'n roll and pop vocalist in Australia with multiple record releases between 1962 and 1968. After three singles on the Clarion label had flopped, Cook moved to the United Kingdom for two years where he worked on the London stage production of the musical Hair.
