Compass & Knife is a four-piece instrumental band from the Pacific Northwest that draws influences from ambient, shoegaze, and post-rock sounds.
After years of playing in different bands, four friends from Tacoma, WA came together to create a sound that was both introspective yet existential. Happy yet sad. Quiet yet heavy. Inspired by first and second generation instrumental acts such as Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, God Is An Astronaut, This Will Destroy You, and Caspian; Compass & Knife set out to write and perform music that would provoke a wide spectrum of human emotions.
