Danny Lukassen (born Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 05 May 1971) is a Dutch vocalist and entertainer who recorded several albums since 1991, but is primarily known for his 1995 smash hit Ajax Is Kampioen, a steaming party tune that was heard all around Amsterdam during the glorious UEFA Champions League campaign of AFC Ajax football club. The melody for 'Ajax Is Kampioen' already existed: it is the melody of Malle Babbe, a song written by legendary Dutch singer/songwriter Boudewijn de Groot, with lyrics by Lennaert Nijgh and made famous by singer Rob de Nijs in 1973.
