Weiland is obsolete German for "erstwhile". Recorded, produced, mixed and mastered at the Klangschmiede Studio E by Markus Stock. Also released as a DLP and a limited 3CD edition. There is since 2006 also a rerelease as a lavishly designed, gold-embossed Digibook of "A Wintersunset…", "Songs of moors and misty fields", "Weiland" and "Where at night the wood grouse plays" by Prophecy Producions. All of these are limited to 500 copies.

Empyrium is a German symphonic/folk/doom metal and (later) neofolk band. Founded in 1994, by Markus Stock (mostly using the pseudonym Ulf Theodor Schwadorf) and Andreas Bach. The band draws inspiration from nature as some of the album titles reveal.
