After playing guitar in local rock bands since 1971, Georg Graewe founded his first group, The Georg Graewe Quintet, in 1974 while still in his teens. Graewe has consequently been leading a variety of ensembles ranging from trio to chamber orchestra formats, which have involved some of the most noted soloists in contemporary music. From 1982 to 1993 Graewe was director of the GrubenKlangOrchester, a 10-piece chamber group with an international line-up.
