Biography
Gerry Mitchell & Little Sparta (Band) is a collaboration between Scottish poet Mitchell and London based band Little Sparta (also on Last FM). Signed to Fire Records (UK) in 2005 the first release, Scalpel Slice, was in February 2006. In the summer of 2005 Gerry Mitchell & Little Sparta recorded Feasting On My Heart a ten minute piece that featured on the December 2005 issue of The Wire (magazine) and was released in August 2005 as a split 10" single with New York band Liars.
Little Sparta have released a single with Sally Timms of the Mekons on Grey Gallery records as well as providing music for the NFB film 'Carts of Darkness' along with Black Mountain & Vetiver. They are currently preforming to 'The Adventures of Prince Achmed', a 1926 Silouhette film by Lotte Reiniger as well as creating a shadow work based on 18th century grave robbers called The Resurrection Men.
