The Gyüto Tantric college is one of the two great tantric colleges of the Gelug lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, to which the Dalai Lamas principally belong. It was founded in 1474 by Jetzun Kunga Thöndrüb (1419-1486) at Chamba Ling, east of Lhasa. It soon moved to Lhasa, occupying the 7th-century temple.
