Ján Ďurčo is a native of Trenčín, a town in western Slovakia. He is a graduate of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. He has also musically trained at La Scala in Milan. He has won many awards throughout Europe and became active with the Slovak National Theatre Opera in 1986, where he performed various leading opera roles, including Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, Valentin in Gounod's Faust, and Verdi's Rigoletto.
