Johnny Maestro (real name Johnny Mastrangelo) was the one time lead vocalist with The Crests. The Crests were a very popular R&B/Doo-Wop band in the late 1950s. The band is regarded (even today)as unusual due to their ethnic integration. The Crests were comprised of four men (two African American, one Puerto Rican and one Italian) and one African American female. The group, while never achieving the legendary status of some of their contemporaries had several chart successes.
