This is the soundtrack to Gore Verbinski’s 2003 swashbuckler film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. It was the first Disney franchise to be given a PG-13 rating by the MPAA (all previous Disney releases were rated G or PG). A sequel, Dead Man’s Chest, was released in 2006. The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has grossed over $4.5 billion worldwide, and is the 14th highest-grossing film series of all time as well as the first film franchise to produce two or more films that made over $1 billion.
