Released on Elton John's newly founded Rocket Record Company in 1979, the album named referred to Rocket's phone number and was the result of a flyer and adverts asking for new bands to 'phone this number'. Appearing on the album alongside Practice were acts such as Les Elite, The Brick Wall Band, and perhaps the most recognised of Rocket's discoveries, The Lambrettas, who went on to achieve cult Mod status.
