Michael Nesmith (born Robert Michael Nesmith on December 30, 1942; died December 10, 2021) was an American
singer-songwriter and musician, perhaps best known as a member of
The Monkees. A pioneer of
country rock, Nesmith notably composed "
Different Drum", a hit for
Linda Ronstadt (by way of
