Biography

Formed in the summer of 2002, Paul Spencer & The Maxines are an American band, based in CT. Critics often compare the band's early sound to that of The Replacements, The Clash and the New York Dolls. They have released three albums, plus an EP: 2005’s "The Whole Shebang", which displayed the band's early / roots; 2007's tinged "Cut the Jive"; plus an -influenced acoustic EP, "Either Sunset or Sunrise", which came out in August of 2008. Their third album, "Whatever Forever and Ever", further expanded the band's sonic palette, and was released in May of 2009; it included a cover of John Lennon's "Jealous Guy".

In 2012, the song "Bettie Page", from the album "The Whole Shebang", was featured in the documentary "Bettie Page Reveals All", directed by Academy Award Nominee, Emmy Award winning producer & director, Mark Mori, and narrated by the legendary Bettie Page herself.

Paul Spencer's backing band, The Maxines, takes its name from the character portrayed by Catherine Keener, Maxine Lund, in Spike Jonze's 1999 cult classic, "Being John Malkovich".
