Ray Ellis started out as a saxophonist, but is perhaps better known as an arranger, composer and conductor. He released a couple of albums where he headlined: Ellis in Wonderland and Let's Get Away from It All. He also served as arranger and conductor on albums by the Four Lads, Emmylou Harris, Billie Holiday and Johnny Mathis. He composed TV soundtracks for shows such as Star Trek: the Animated series, Spider-man (1967) and Tom and Jerry.
