Sékou Bah started to play the guitar in his hometown of Bandiagara on Mali’s Dogon plateau and at 11 was invited to join Bandiagara’s orchestra, Nangabanou Jazz. When he was 18 he left school to study music in Guinée followed by Senegal and Gambia. In 2003, at the age of 21, he returned to Mali to join the national orchestra of Mali where he came to the attention of Salif Keita who he accompanied as guitarist and bassist for 3 years.
