Stand By For Action! (named in reference to the Terry Nation TV series Stingray) formed in 2006 at the University of Northampton, UK. The group, comprising Jack James (vocals), Steve Cheney (guitar) and Matt Carey (drums; later replaced by Matthew Brand in 2007) were heavily influenced by Ex-Models and Arab On Radar, as well as James' previous band Aotea, and formed with the intention of making rock music that was both experimental and accessible.
