Thaxter Elliott Douglas III (born 31 October 1957) , better known as Thax Douglas, is an American poet originally based out of Chicago, but now living in Austin, Texas. For many years, Douglas had been a fixture at Chicago-area shows, reading poems directly inspired by the music of bands as introductions for their performances. In 2006, Douglas made an ill-fated attempt to move to New York City. He returned to Chicago and resumed reading poems before performances until he moved to Austin, Texas 2009, where he currently resides.
