The Del-Phis were a quartet formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1957. Led by then sixteen-year-old Martha Reeves, the group included Reeves' childhood friends Rosalind Ashford and Gloria Williams (both fifteen), and Annette Beard (fourteen), and was the early precursor to Martha and the Vandellas. The group spent around four years performing at talent shows, high school parties and private events, and being trained by future Motown groomer Maxine Powell at Detroit's dance hall, the Ferris Center.
