It was also released as a single in the US in October and reached #13 on the Billboard charts. Ray Davies composed the song based on a negative experience at a luxury resort in 1965. The Kinks (1963–1996; 2018-present) is an English pop-rock group that came out of the British R&B scene of the early 1960s.
