Biography
The Organizers
THE ORGANIZERS is really a fun band to be in!!! The instant groove from Klavs Nordsøs conga drums, the musical yet swinging approach of Ole Rømer on the drums and the marvellous saxplaying by Bob Rockwell makes it a thrill to be in the group. Bob is equally at home with the bluestunes, the standards and the beautiful ballads.
All this together with my old Hammond makes the group sound exactly as I hoped when we first started out. Having played with a lot of different blues people from U.S.A. and Europe I must say that there is as much soul to the Organizers as any bluescontext that I worked in. And then there is all the other qualities in the music, as Bob Rockwell describes elsewhere on the page.
One moment we're playing the blues, next minute a fast jazz number or a soul-jazz tune. Then we might slip into a beautiful Ellington ballad. The inspiration is jazz from the sixties, but we do it our way.
We're working hard in the Organizers, trying to continue the tradition with our own voices. The audiences and critics overwhelmingly positive response shows me its worth it!!
Kjeld Lauritsen.
Back in the late sixties in the U.S.A., I worked in several groups, which played music in the same style as the Organizers. The music has a wide range of stylistic possibilities from blues to funk to swing to bebop and beyond, but the organ sound is what really sets it apart from other jazz groups. Plus, 98% of the time there is a party atmosphere when you hear it. A truly living music.
Bob Rockwell.
