"The Way to Say" began as a tribute to Ayumi Hamasaki, a project designed to express to the English-speaking world what Ayumi cannot. Lyric translations became singable adaptations, and those adaptations became recorded songs. Eventually, the project was extended to include all kinds of Japanese songs. It became, in effect, an interpretation of J-Pop in English.
