Bernd Weidung (born 1 March 1963), known by his stage name Thomas Anders, is a German singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the pop duo Modern Talking.

Anders began his singing career during his school years, initially pursuing success as a artist. In 1983, he formed Modern Talking with producer Dieter Bohlen. The duo achieved international fame with their debut single "You're My Heart, You're My Soul," followed by other popular tracks such as "You Can Win If You Want," "Cheri, Cheri Lady," "Brother Louie," "Atlantis Is Calling (S.O.S. for Love)," "Geronimo's Cadillac," and "Jet Airliner." Modern Talking disbanded in 1987, but reunited in 1998, releasing new material including "You Are Not Alone," "Sexy, Sexy Lover," "No Face, No Name, No Number," "Ready for the Victory," and "TV Makes the Superstar," before dissolving again in 2003. Their break-ups were accompanied by legal disputes and significant media attention in Germany. The duo sold an estimated 120 million records globally during their career.

Following the initial break-up of Modern Talking, Anders launched a solo career in the 1990s, releasing several albums, though most did not achieve significant chart success. His 1994 Spanish-language album "Barcos de Cristal" found success in Argentina, with the title track reaching number one. After the duo’s second split, Anders experienced greater solo success. His 2004 album "This Time" reached number 14 on the German charts and produced hits in Russia and Turkey. His 2010 album "Strong" achieved platinum status in Russia. That same year, he collaborated with Jörn-Uwe Fahrenkrog-Petersen on the album "Two," which reached number 11 in Germany. His 2017 German-language album "Pures Leben" reached number 14.

Although his solo work has not matched the commercial impact of Modern Talking, Anders remains popular in Eastern Europe, particularly in Russia and Poland. He frequently performs in large venues in the region and has been recognized as the best-selling foreign artist in Russian music history. In 2006, he was awarded an honorary professorship by Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv for his influence on musical culture.
