Tim Hagans (born August 19, 1954) is a
jazz trumpeter and composer. He grew up in Dayton, Ohio playing in school bands. His early inspirations included
Miles Davis,
Herb Alpert,
Sly Stone, and
Blood, Sweat and Tears. In his late teens, Hagans joined Woody Herman in the
Isham Jones Band. Upon matriculation, Hagans enrolled at Bowling Green State University, where he majored in music education. After the summer of 1974, however, Hagans dropped out of school to join
