I try to avoid it as much as possible. Heartbreaking is a pathetically weak word to describe this tune - it's simply devastating and no matter how hard I try to resist, tears just rolling down until the music ends.

I have always known that this translates as 'The little girl of the sea' ie a mermaid. But only just now realised that the English word 'mermaid' uses 'mer' for sea... only it is from the Latin.... which of course is the root for French as well as English...
