Two years after obtaining a record deal with Polygram records, "Wishing I Was Lucky" was the first single released by "White Soul" Scottish group Wet Wet Wet. The single was a success reaching #6 in the UK in June 1987, spending 17 weeks in the Top 100. It was also a minor hit in the USA, reaching the lower end of the Billboard charts at #58.
