“Slang That Iron” is YNW Melly’s twist on “Say Goodbye” by one of his icons, Chris Brown. The actual title “Slang That Iron”, is a slang term that refers to the act of pulling out a gun in order to kill somebody. Melly describes this throughout the song as a “kill or be killed” theme. Where Melly is speaking directly to his mother Jamie King, he is explaining that due to the pressure his name carries, he must do what is necessary for the survival of himself and others. Melly also describes how he must kill others in order for him and his family to stay alive.
