Life Hates Me was born out of the ashes of the downtown San Diego thrash-core band Drowned Out. Amidst the over-saturated punk/ska scene that plagued San Diego clubs, Drowned Out flourished as a heavy alternative, earning themselves a strong and loyal following. They opened for acts including Sugar Ray, Powerman 5000, and Snot. However, the success of Drowned Out was cut short when musical differences left the band without a voice.
