Damn, I would love to have gone to their early concerts. These guys were emblematic of a time that just seems to not exist anymore. I'll never forget the story about the time they got chased out of India for kissing each other on stage. I know they aren't active much anymore, but I appreciate them for the sound they brought to me in my late formative years.

These guys definitely have a 60s garage punk vibe going for them, like a band on Nuggets or Pebbles.

That's good to hear man. It's gotta be a strange balancing act of growing out of the punk scene, but also keeping your identity.

Hamburg 2019, Black Lips at Molotow. // A friend of mine and I sat on the floor to take off and organize our Jackets. Drummer asked us: "Are you okay?" // As the concert began we started dancing as hard as we could. I fell on the floor. Cole stopped a song to ask: "Are you okay?" // After fetching our Jackets we sat on the floor again, to plan where to go next. Jared passed by to ask: "Are you okay?"

The Black Lips met the Black Cat last week for a hair-raising occasion. The Atlanta natives have been touring the East Coast and will continue across North America until they land in Europe late May. Check out our photo feature of the ban here: http://blog.eventseeker.com/2014/04/18/photo-feature-black-lips/

Yeah honestly this record is excellent. There are a couple of duffers (hardly bad songs though, just not on par with the rest of the album) but their songwriting is exceptional and the lyrics in particular are some of the most fun and creative I've heard in some time. Smiling and Do the Vibrate are good examples of that, as is the little monologue at the end of Dandelion Dust which is fucking ACE. I love this band.
