Nothing can touch those first two records, man. Saw them live recently for the first time since 2007, and went back and revisited Second Stage and In Keeping Secrets, and they're literally bangers from start to finish. I think I just prefer them as more of a post-hardcore/emo band that happened to listen to Rush a lot before they became more celebrated "prog-rock stars."

coheed and cambria are weird cause they're like the nerdiest band of all time but they have like 3 of the best emo/ pop songs ever written so that too lol

New single is pretty solid. I never got into Vaxis I or II but I feel like I should give them another try now.

I did back when they were first released. They started off as a generic Alcest clone and haven't evolved much past that. They're hipster garbage that must be purged from metal.

The double album Ascension and Descension are great. Not much to report since. Hoping the new record out soon is solid.

I always assumed those versions of SSTB songs were demos, given the labels on the re-issue's bonus tracks. I agree with you. I like those so much better than the "album" versions. For me, the added sound effects take away from the songwriting. "Time Consumer" and "Everything Evil" really suffer from over-production.

As someone who hasn't listened to the band in years but recently checked out the latest single, I'm genuinely curious if they've sounded like a prog pop Kid Rock for a while now or if it's only a recent direction.

What a band! Been a fan for over a decade plus and I still find myself rocking out SO FUCKING hard to every single song and album these boys put out. Every album is quality. Personal favs are Good Apollo, the Afterman albums and of course, The Second Stage Turbine Blade. You dont like C&C? Fuck you, I don't like you!

Back in 07' or so, I accidentally purchased the "clean" version of Good Apollo on iTunes and to this day I still have no fucking idea why they censored the words Death, Die, and Kill. It took me an embarrassingly amount of time to get the normal version of the album and was so confused when hearing what they chose to censor.

Vaxis: Act 1 totally took me by surprise. Loaded with excellent songs. They also really outclassed Mastodon during their tour together in 2019. I was stunned. Claudio is the man!

I went to that same tour, and I completely agree. ETID outclassed Mastodon as well.
