1) i'm sure (almost) any artist is thankful people are enjoying their music at all, regardless of the economic circumstances through which the music was accessed 2) the issue in regards to Ducktails specifically is that the lo-fi DIY aspect of the project makes the music personal and intimate. a large part of the joy of DIY-culture in general is the perceived 1-1 relationship between artist and "consumer". this is why Matt's music was so heavily impacted by the cancellation, while Steely Dan sounds just as good regardless of their personalities i actually think the cancellation heavily shifted my perception of Ducktails, but in no way made me dislike the music. now it just comes with tragic uncomfortable freudian undertones. the things he did were real fucking strange, and i always hear the daydreamyness of those early records with empathy towards the imagined character who commit those actions. but my point really is just that your point sucks ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

if you think it's possible to separate art from an artist you should really consider finding a new world view. it's as impossible to understand time without space as to understand art without an artist. one necessitates the other. this does not mean that time equates space nor that art equates its artist. the world is one and the seemingly rational possibility of dividing it into fragments is an illusion. there are no events without context. no art without context. no art outside time. a piece of art belongs to its artist like a child to is parent. they are separate yet inextricably linked. if your art experiences never include anything outside "the work in itself" — as if it's a separatable from its origins and surroundings (it's not btw) — you too might just be aurtistic

landscapes - это непонятная абстрактая хуйня без цели, сделанная человеком, который вообще не понимает, что хочет от своей музыки и просто играется с педальками. Jersey Devil - цельный, отлично спродюссированный альбом без единого слабого трека. Вообще это его лучший альбом, он довел свою стилистику до пика.
