Louis Jordan is, was, and forever shall be THE MAN. He was like a great scientist, the first person to put together all the right elements in just the right way to create the chain reaction that changed music forever. There were a lot of other artists who played a part in the process, but Louis Jordan marks the point at which everything came together in just the right way for the first time.
