Biography
There are two artists that go by Pantychrist:
1) PantyChrist was an experimental outfit by Bob Ostertag, Otomo Yoshihide, and Justin Bond that released their self-titled album in 1999 on Negativland's Seeland label.
2) Pantychrist formed in 2003 after the chance
encounter of four women in a ladies washroom.
Upon discovering they all had similar musical
aspirations the duo of guitarist Izabelle Steele and
vocalist Danyell DeVille joined bassist Amy Hell and
drummer Patty Rotten in forming an all female
hardcore punk group. A couple of different names
were considered before deciding to call the outfit
Pantychrist.
With a take no prisoners approach the band
made a stir quite quickly in the local Hamilton music
scene and the tremors soon spread to other cities.
The group capitalized on the growing buzz by issuing
the Never Love Anything cd on AMP Records in
2005. It achieved international notoriety for it's
combination of fast punk blasts interlaced with
catchy melodies and straight to the point lyrics. A
documentary/performance dvd entitled Skirting With
Disaster was released in 2006.
2010 found Cari Corpse behind the Pantychrist drum
kit and 2011 saw the addition of new bass player
Jen O'Cyde. The band issued a cd entitled Break It
Down at the end of the year which was a compilation
of rare early tracks and newer material.
Pantychrist are presently compiling tracks for the
upcoming CrACkHeaDs AnD eNAbLerS cd and have
a 7" record called THe GiRLs NeXT DoOR due to be
released shortly.
