На альбоме «Pleasures Of The Harbor» это очень хорошо заметно.

Пример конечно хороший,на фоне посыла и подачи The War is Over текст Дилана в Masters of War более скомканный хоть и на одну тему. Outside Of A Small Circle Of Friends,но альбом совсем не помню.

Often overlooked as one of the best of the singer-song writers who used their folk music to help build the Movement during the 60s. Such a sad End

Dylan and Ochs loved the same music growing up and were enthralled by the Beatles, but Dylan had enough exposure from being the leading folk musician to actually make the transition to rock music early on; even then it jeopardized his career before the rock press decided to embrace him and eventually make their own careers out of writing pretentious drivel about Dylan's music and others. Ochs was initially very focused on maintaining the purity of his message (as well as nervous as all heck about derailing what he thought was a surefire path to success as a Woody Guthrie-style musician) and therefore eschewed additional "instrumentation"; his complete reversal on this for his A&M releases is likely partly due to his bipolar disorder. I think regardless of who it was, folk would've eventually found it's way to rock music, as did most of everything else at the time. Dylan just happened to be the one who conceptualized it first.

To my mind, Phil's greatness is in his outstanding sense of time, sense of the moment, that's what makes me constantly return to his songs, that's what's making his songs truly eternal.

Seriously though, I just cannot get over how great Phil Ochs is. Whether touching on political or personal matters, the man put my thoughts and feelings into music form decades before I was born.

I first scrobbled Phil Ochs exactly one year ago today. I don't think I knew that was the day he died at the time :S

This man has taken over my last.fm charts. As far as I'm concerned, Phil WAS the 60's personified, from his beginnings up to his decline and death

Can't believe I've discovered him just now. "I Ain't Marching Anymore" is perfect.

Listen to Phil Ochs, Jackson Browne.. The world stays the same, but very brave people HAVE made a difference! The Dr. Rev. M. L. King, inspired by God and M. Gandhi, with help from many brave people used non-violent resistance to shame our government into making changes that were long overdue! I know it wasn't perfect, but this "movement" caused children to be taught in the same schools, so they could no longer favor white schools with more tax money. People died - but refused to kill - so that others were no longer bullied into not voting. They were also shamed into changing the voting age and abolishing the draft. A united refusal to co-operate with evil WORKS. I thank God for this music that reminds us that our liberty is a RIGHT, not a privilege. We have every right to be angry about the way our constitution is being ignored, even changed, so the rich can get richer still. What happened to " [all] we have to fear is fear itself."? Or "Christian" meaning to behave like Jesus...

One of my favorite singer-songwriters - what a legend! A shame he's been gone for so long.

"Pleasures of the Harbor" is definitely his best album (also arguably one of the greatest albums of all time), although it's drastically different than everything else he's ever done. The compilation album "There But For Fortune" has all of his greatest songs on it, I would say.
