It's not even about separating the art from the artist. It's about separating all the terror in the world from your own identity. Terrible stuff will keep happening. It's naive to think this is the last time there'll be baddies. And if you think you can keep your own conscience clean by not listening to a band, boy do I have news for you. Why stop there? You still eat meat? You still buy shoes made by kids? Listening to any other problematic bands? Which bank holds your money? Any family members working for an evil company that you should never contact again? You watch the Olympics? Or soccer maybe? Bunch of hypocrites. Everyone has blood on their hands. Picking the side of whatever's the mob right now isn't gonna change that. Or ask yourself what you've really done for the people in Palestine, except nagging about bands online.

All your yapping in defense of Yorke doesn't change the fact that he's a prick supporting Israel which is comitting genocide. "I’m at the Thom Yorke concert and have just been told that I have to cover up my Free Palestine T-shirt because ‘ the performer has asked for it…’" For real

it's not merely that they've "done concerts" in israel, they actively ignored and were very vocal against a then-ongoing massive boycott movement against doing exactly that. and also thom -- who loved being an activist about dumb lib shit like extinction rebellion and played 'free tibet' gigs back in the 90's -- being dead silent about the ongoing GENOCIDE exposes him as kind of a fraud

I support the right of both Israelis and Palestinians to have their own nations in the Middle East. I condemn Hamas’s attack on 10/7/23 that killed innocent people in Israel. I also condemn Israel for attacking innocent people in Palestine. To say that one side is completely innocent is just wrong.

Both The Hague International Criminal Court and Amnesty International confirm Israel has committed genocide.

Thom Yorke also doesn't care about politics that much in this current day since he mainly just want to connect with people though music.

They literally stated that they do not condone whatever Israel does, and they're only touring because of the people, the same people that served as a stepping stone for their popularity nowadays. I totally stand with Palestine, but a concert isn't gonna support the genocide, nor has Thom supported the IDF. He may have not directly spoken against it, but that's more because of Johnny Greenwood, which brings a personal barrier to the discussion. I don't believe Thom is a Zionist at all, but he made a really bad decision to stay quiet. Understandable, but with the tension right now, very shameful of him, especially as an "anti-war, political" artist & respective band.

lmfaoo okay so thom getting mad because someone who waited until the END of the show to interrupt thom's show and yell at him means hes a zionist? barely anyone knew what the guy was saying at the show it was so inaudible. if that heckler wanted to support palestine he should've donated the money to gaza instead of buying tickets to thom's show.

the funniest thing in the world this week is thom yorke having made a fortune off of being like “guys forget about that pop shit we did it’s so orwellian out there they’re coming for you” (in the nineties btw, the last time things didn’t completely suck) and now that people are questioning his obvious support for an actual nightmare genocide he’s all like “aren’t we all just here to have a good time? hear some tunes? go back to being my ATM i beg”

You hit the nail on the head. Dude was overwhelmingly outspoken about shit like climate change for decades, more so than most artists or celebrities at least, & has always been socially minded if not politically too. & that attracted people who respected him for that on top of for the work Radiohead created. He garnered an audience who, in some capacity, gave a shit about the world & not making it a hellscape, & now he's mad they're holding him accountable. At the least, even barring the humanitarian catastrophe that is happening in Palestine rn he could mention the horrific impact on the climate that Israel's war is making, & THAT would be on brand for him, But he's too much of a piss baby for even that. Fucking sad.

and what room for nuance is there in a genocide? there aren’t exactly any shades of grey in, say, nazi germany’s holocaust
