Kim Duk-koo was a South Korean boxer who died after fighting in a world championship boxing match against Ray Mancini. His death sparked reforms aimed at better protecting the health of boxers, including reducing the number of rounds in championship bouts from 15 to 12. On this 14 minute epic, Mark Kozelek contemplates his love for another person. He acknowledges the rocky path that life lays for us all, and how it could all go away at any minute, like it unfortunately did for the Korean boxer. He recounts that he wants to use his ability to live and love while he still can.
