Founded in Ukraine, tAngerinecAt are Ukraine born and raised Eugene
Purpurovsky and British born Paul Chilton - songwriters, composers,
producers, and multi-instrumentalists now based in Wales, UK.
Their influences range from artists like Gesaffelstein, Son Lux, Nick
Cave & The Bad Seeds, My Dying Bride, Auktyon to the ethnic music
of the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains and the films of Sergey
Parajanov.
In the early days the duo toured continuously headlining shows
throughout Ukraine, and the UK. After moving to the UK in 2016,
tAngerinecAt has extensively toured across the country.
As tAngerinecAt they released two albums - Many Kettles and H.R
V.I.P. In August 2021 they received a Help Musicians award to release
their highly anticipated album "Glass" based around Eugene's personal
experiences as a neurodivergent person, severe trauma, acute poverty
and Chornobyl disaster survivor, and a queer multiethnic refugee
activist from Ukraine. The album was released on 28th April 2022 and
contains their recent singles Molfar, Something Broke Inside, House of
Shards accompanied by its music video, and a collaborative single
Anti-Lullaby with Norwegian artist Runa de Luna.
