The man who lives across the street from me keeps a hatchet by his window to let everyone know he's not to be messed with.

Hey I like Celebration Florida! It's definitely different than their other stuff but it's not bad by any means. All bands like to experiment with their sound once in a while.

These guys have always gotten tepid reviews. I've listened to their music for years, seen them live many times, I've met them. I think they're just too real for the entitled little shits at pitchfork and the like.

God Bless You Amigo is exactly what I wanted from this band-- back to their roots! Fantastic release. Love these guys!

any criticism of the album should be reserved until you've seen the songs live. true to felice form, the songs are brilliant live. its the only way to get a feel for them.

Agree with Leavin -- Obviously, not all changes in musical style are bad (Dylan, the Beatles, Stones, etc etc), and it would be stupid to suggest otherwise. But it is equally nonsensical to claim that all changes are good, and any criticism of a crappy album is inherently unjust just because it is different from previous efforts

It's not the change in style at all, it's just as easy to blame peoples reaction on that, it's just not a very good album QUALITY wise, nothing to do with style...

It always irks me how people complain whenever a band makes a change in style. It's like people expect for every album to sound exactly the same, but what would be the fun in that? Bands experiment and bands evolve. Some of the greatest artists are respected for just that reason. (take Beck, for example) I think if more people were to try and listen to the new album without expecting it to sound like anything else, they'd really like it. Unfortunately that is really hard to do. At least they may gain some new fans from it.

Two listens in is early to comment but I have to say new album is currently a HUGE disappointment, I love s/t and Arizona and enjoy Yonder & Mix Tape but this just seems a badly delivered experiment to me...

New album totally blows. Lacks all of the soul and power of their other work... the most depressing bit is that underneath all the crap they buried the songs under you can hear the seed for what could have been moving folk balladry.
