Highly unique band. I know them thanks to a magazine called Uncut Punk - 1975-1979 - Complete Anarchy! that was published around 2002. They didn't have much to write about them, however they did intrigue me. They included one the one photo with one of the members hanging on a tree (photo is in their Photos section on this page).

I'm re-listening to the Slits and am surprised how little actually going in. Quite cute and charming but compared to other Post-Punk/New Wave acts around the same time the Slits actually had very little going for them besides attitude and charm. A poor woman's The Raincoats basically.

That bass...! Thank you for the wonderful music, girls, and rest in peace, Ari, you went far too soon.

The expanded version of Cut is an example of a reissue done right. Still so sad she's gone... :'(

I finally got around to listening to Return of the Giant Slits. Now I'm sorry that I put it off for so long, because it's pretty nice!

Why can they not be tagged Riot Grrrl, surely Ari was the epitome of a riot grrl. She truly did what she wanted and didn't care what society thought of her. A lot of the actual riot grrrl bands where just conforming to an image they wanted to portray where Ari did it her way.
