I was initially supposed to be there for the weekend, but change of plans and I can't go now =/.....maybe next year! What bands are you looking forward to?

Old Man Gloom is the shit dude...love 'em. Gonna be a sick show. Barones...too bad they don't play around home anymore...but I've seen them 2x since The Blue Album and they've blown me away. Waiting for their double album like a crackhead walking the block. Should be huge. Their one of my favorite bands to come out in the last few years. I'd almost say Trap Them is due for something as well...but that would pushing it. It's been a great year for extreme music so far. Lata.

Shame about Athiest. Haven't seen them recently...or much footage for that matter. Their old albums are classics and they used to be great live. I kinda thinking maybe they should hang it up...Kelly can't even play guitar and from what I hear his voice is...not what it used to be, would be the nicest way to put it...

Oooohh! That is a tough choice. If it was Death w/Chuck...it would be a no-brainer. But Black Breath puts on a great show...they we're great a couple years ago, I can only imagine how good they would be now. And their new album kills. MDF dude? Lucky... I can't swing it this year, can't get off work. Catching Old Man Gloom on Tuesday and picking up their new album. Been waiting years to see 'em. Mares of Thrace the week after...then I have Meshuggah/Baroness and Nasum back to back. No Mieszko...but Nasum will still be a dream come true. As for the other show I'm not sure who I'm more excited to see...maybe Baroness. Hope the crowd gives em a chance. Tough spot to be sandwiched between Decapitated and Meshuggah. Should be a blast anyway.

I'm gonna skip it myself. I saw Mastodon already touring for The Hunter (which I quite enjoy actually). Opeth played only Heritage and a few mellower tunes last time I saw them...nothing heavy at all. Huge Opeth fan for years...but I fear I've moved on. Wouldn't mind Ghost though either. My sister caught the tour in Denver...said Ghost was awesome...as well as Mastodon. She cut out before Opeth (newbie to metal). I've already got a full concert calendar anyway... Find any new bands?

I think the Unsane album is pretty solid after a couple times through...the last one came and went with like zero press, so maybe there's a hangover from that. The publicity for Wreck has been ramped up a bit...You can't please everybody. Right now music fans are as fickle as I can ever remember...strange times. On the plus side I feel buried in a mountain of new muzak to plow through, never a bad thing.

Sigh just came in the mail...finally. I'll give it a good listen tonight...waiting for that one for a while...also got the new Orange Goblin, Unsane, and a Mumakil CD which I've been meaning to get for a while...Gotta lotta listening to do...then I'll get hit with Split Cranium and Meshuggah records...

You gotta listen to it again man...preferably at high volume...The title track is great as is the the kickoff Feast...then tracks 4,7,8, and 9 got me groovin'. Don't get me wrong, I love Heavy Breathing and seeing them play those songs live was a recent concert highlight...But something about this album grabbed me by the balls and kicked me in the ass right from the start. I mean, HB had very little filler but this one has none, imo. Funny how peeps have different vibes. I feel like they really hit their stride here...not just another downtuned band with the levels on their distortion pedals all the way to max...Maybe I was just in a good mood, but I've been crankin' it. Give it some time dude...

New Black Breath is on point! Got it in the mail w/shirt from Southern Lord for 20 bucks... Honestly I think it's better than Heavy Breathing...riffs man, riffs.

I hear ya...the blogspot are a bitch now...I found the PTP sites (torrent) were often mistagged or virus threats...great for bulk downloading...but it's hard to find a happy medium these days. Plus I'm old school...I like to hold it..smell it...read the liner notes. LOL. Doesn't mean I don't smash and grab once in a while...

Stopped using torrents a while ago...still have Utorrent...used it mostly for discographies. Been using blogs recentlly for a bunch of vinyl only releases...Sigh is good enough for me to wait. I got a great store bout 20 mis from my crib...If I remember right, March 20th and 27th have some good stuff dropping. The cool thing about Vintage Vinyl is they put out their new releases the Thursday before the release date...

I haven't gotten it yet...I've heard a couple tracks...thought they were great...almost a return to the oddities of Imaginary Sonicscape...I thought they got a little one dimentional the past few albums...don't have Scenes from Hell. I'm gonna get it soon though, I want a physical copy. Hoping it's a highlight of the year. If you're finding it over the top, that's prolly a good thing in my book!

Demonic Death Judge (silly name) is the shiznit man...Downloaded Kneel and then picked up The Descent yesterday...great stuff. Like a cross between, Electric Wizard and Church of Misery w/proggy parts and tasteful bluesy soloing...Find of the year so far for me...Cheers

that sounds like a cool show. I like all those bands except HH. I reaaaaallllllllly hope to make it to MDF this year. I might die if I miss Electric Wizard, Saint Vitus, and Church of Misery..

Don't get me started on the politics of touring these days...I haven't been to an arena show in 2 or 3 years when I saw The Police and Muse both at Madison Square Garden. Unless there is a really killer bill, I've soured on the festival circuit as well. For me the prices just don't justify the down time...and bands I could care less about. I prefer my 10-20 buck shows in intimate venues...I'd kick it up a bit for someone I really wanna see at a midsized venue...like Mogwai for example...I'd pay 40+ bucks for them...But shows like that are few and far between. On the other hand with the music industry the way it is these days you can't fault bands trying to make a buck.

Black Cobra's the tits...I've spent lots of time with Invernal. Agreed about Chronomega...but the real hidden gem to me is Feather and Stone. The are ridunkulous live man...like a two man wrecking crew...Last time I saw em was opening for Kyuss Lives! Crowd didn't know what the fuck to make of them, it was great.

Demonic Death Judge? I'll hop on that. I love Death is This Communion as well...kinda have a soft spot for Surrounded By Thieves as it was my intro to the band...Imagine what it would sound like with BBW's sound...Art of Self Defense as well for that matter. That was why it was so awesome to hear the old stuff like Fireface and Razor Hoof live on the last tour...with their beefed up live sound. Matt Pike gets better and better w/each album. Dug Fertile Green...I think I took to Frost Hammer a bit more when it debuted...but I have no doubts the new one will kick my ass...

Didn't know Ballou was doing the production...that's a win right there. I don't know if there's been anything to come out of his studio that I didn't approve of. I'll check it. I actually saw Cursed before they called it a day...one of the best shows I've ever been too. Burning Love is cool and all...but it ain't Cursed. Back to HOF...as much as I liked Snakes...there were some jaw dropping hooks on that one (Holy Flames of the Firespitter!)...I did think it sounded a bit to clean...I might be in the minority but I liked the sound on Blessed Black Wings the most...

Damn bro, you're harsh! LOL. I've liked them since Hellmouth... They're not breaking any boundaries but they're raw, fast, and straight to the point...which I like sometimes.

I will probably still dig it. Got a chance to hang with them after the Converge show...really cool, down to earth guys. Great live show...as you well know. As long as the new one isn't a jarring contrast the material should fit seemlessly into their shows. Remember how different Heavy Breathing was from Razor to Oblivion? We'll see I guess. Telling you this is gonna be a good year for heavy music. New High on Fire in April...if you like em. The artwork looks great.

Your're right...Full of Hell I saw open for Converge... I remember thinking they we're gonna sound like Howl cause of Howl's album title...and I couldn't get it out of my head...If I remember they were very good. I should get on that too. Rot in Hell, the Deathwish band, I also saw open for Converge w/Black Breath (sick)...Their album i've been trying to find for a while...might have to go straight through Deathwish Inc.

Response to Liberteer has been so weird...I love it...could listen all day. Nasum is gracing Brooklyn with a live show so I don't have to worry about MDF...And I didn't mean Pig Destroyer was playing, I was referring to the album they're SUPPOSED to be putting out this year. Your right, they don't tour much. I was lucky to see them on the Relapse Contamination Festval in like 2003 or so...And of course Meshuggah's album next month. Don't know if I'm gonna catch the show w/Baroness yet. As for Rot in Hell, if you mean As Pearls before swine...I've been meaning to get that for a while. If you like Rise and Fall, they got a new one dropping pretty soon too.

Pallbearer album is sick...That's what I was hoping the 40 Watt Sun album was gonna be like. Finally got the Cormorant...it's not what I expected, but really good. New Napalm Death...been rockin' that. Nothing new really under the sun there, but it rips, and I really like the sound they got this time. Wasn't a big fan of the production on Time Waits... Liberteer is my album of the year w/o a doubt. It's still only Feb. got Meshuggah next month, and PxDx is comin sometime...Got my tix for Converge and Nasum in April...Aaight.

The Cake Shop puts on some awesome shows... Lot's of DIY stuff, hardcore, grindcore etc. Tickets are always cheap. And it literally is a cake shop...you walk through the bakery and the playing are is in the back. It's tiny...very intimate setting.

Dude, Georgia is no joke when it comes to good music...Some of my favorite bands are from GA...Mastodon, Baroness, Kylesa, Black Tusk, Zoroaster. Those are all band I revere. I'm not that good with geography so I'm not sure how far it is from Atlanta to Savannah for example...Never been to ATL but I did spend a couple days in Savannah and loved it which is hard for a Yank like myself. LOL. But seriously much respect to the Georgia metal scene...

Not another social network to join D: And I'm not in London anymore, I'm in Reading for University. London is the closest for most gigs, other than the rare tour which stops here or in Oxford. I'm not complaining though, it just means that getting there is more expensive. It'll be my 2nd time seeing Anaal Nathrakh, I really can't wait :D They were excellent the first time I saw them, but it was in a 500 cap venue with no barrier, that was painted entirely black on the inside. That definitely helped create an oppressive, claustrophobic atmosphere for their assault. This venue isn't quite as near and dear to me, but it should still be awwweeesome. I haven't seen Exhumed before, but I'm not as familiar with their material. Is that Dark Funeral show one of the ones with Inquisition? If so, I am immensely jealous.

21+ shows are a bummer... not the norm at all. Of course it doesn't effect me, and hasn't for a while but I feel ya... Some of the smaller venues do it, especially in Brooklyn. Before they all closed, the midsized venues all went dry at the same time...And I liked to get my drink on during the shows, it was an integral part of the experience for me. I'd never remember half the night, including the concert but never mind...I had to drink. I choose not to drink alcohol anymore and once I became used to it, it's not so bad at all. I miss the euphoria, but not the 8 dollar drinks and memory gaps. More cash for merch! You got Alcest coming up? Awesome band, great live. Caught them a couple time in the past year...

Don't know if I can make that Morne show, have to see what the cash situation is like. People kinda slept on Asylum...I think it would be heavy as shit live. We shall see. And it is fun working in a studio...using the rooms personally free of charge is a perk. But depending on the time of year and where I am...there can be some long days. See you've been listening to Cormorant, finally ordered Dwellings and it should be here any day now. Damn they good... Peace

Very valid question...And yes, I listen to music at work. I happen to work in a music studio, sometimes pulling 18 hour days...trust me it's not as glamorous as it sounds... The amount of time I spend behind the board is doubled by coffee runs! LOL. But yeah, I generally make a playlist for the day ahead and we have music going all the time. Of course there is music for sleeping...when I do. Cheers man. Nice taste btw...
