Description
A fascinating triple bill. Alison Goldfrapp, once singer with Tricky, "proves herself to be a sublime exponent of all things decadent, nostalgic, twisted and elegant," (NME). Picking up on moods explored by John Barry and Ennio Moricone, the results are trip-hop without the hop - sparse and tense, with whispered vocals over spartan arrangements. Piano and keyboard maestro Jessica Lauren will be appearing with Apache 61 (Mieko Shimizu). The two electronica artists will be creating a truly wild modern jazz sound, soaked in a myriad of influences from Beefheart to Fela Kuti to Michel Legrand. Susheela Rahman takes her musical inspiration from the south-eastern Indian carnatic tradition, which she reworks with guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Sam Mills.
