Truly one of the greatest Bob Dylan songs, maybe the abrupt ending symbolizes the abrubt ending of the relationship in the song.. Or maybe it was just the best take in spite of half a verse missing. Strange that this song isn't on any of the original albums. Here is the solo piano version with the last verse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Wg9sfkBudQ

Classic Dylan song (one of his greatest) from his best period which makes the abrupt ending all the more frustrating. I have a feeling that this is the sound that the Basement Tapes should have had but sadly didn't.

I absolutely know what you mean, Calum. This is my favourite song for a very long time. Seems like Bob wanted to begin with a fifth verse in the Bootleg Series version. Anyone knows more about that recording?
