then it hits me, feel already in a Japanese social gathering drinking saki after midnight... it's like a musical Carnival filled with improvisation,... Samurai Memories is one trippy piece of art, a very good Definition of the 70's Psychedelic. Between, It would be much more "influential" if he sang the whole album in Japanese as it holds beautiful expressions with a much better tuning, especially regarding his nice voice & the meaning of his lyrics, words,.. Still i think he wanted "his message" to reach different people including nonspeaking Japanese folks, so... it's beneath me x) // Doumo arigatou gozai'masu "Harumi".

Harumi - 'Harumi' [ 1968] - Harumi was a Japanese residing in the US where he recorded and released this double LP. It's a record " psych with many native instruments " and vocals in both Japanese and English. The first LP is apparently soft psichedelia. The second contains only a track per side, reputedly " heavily introverted mystical Eastern hippie rambling ". - -.-.-.-. om hari om ..... ॐ

I love this album. It's not the greatest psych-pop album out there and I've got to say I was a bit misled by the Fallout Records blurb that promised "a range of Japanese instruments," but there's a charm about this album (and Harumi himself) that I love. I've decided to search for Harumi and have come across a number of leads, but nothing solid yet. It is of note that the Fallout Records reissue is actually an illegal bootleg. They probably made the CD version by doing a needle drop of the vinyl, as opposed to remastering the master tape. Unfortunate, since most of us probably have the CD release, we probably aren't getting the best possible sound. What a shame.
