Macaroom is a Japanese band founded by vocalist emaru and composer Asahi. The band was formed in 2010 and is currently signed to Kiishi Bros. Entertainment.

The band members are emaru (vocals), Gaku "Asahi" Kiishi (Composer, lyrics, key, vocals), Daichi "Bob" Akiyama (Sound Designer) and Minami Kiishi (Photo, Video, Performance).

Macaroom was formed in 2010 by emaru, who hails from Slovenia, and Asahi from Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture. They made their debut with the self-produced album "room-103". In addition to creating pop songs featuring a feminine voice, they incorporate performances based on algorithmic composition derived from complex systems science and biochemistry. The intricate systems are crafted by Bob. Notably, they were the first to integrate the voice analysis synthesis system called "WORLD" into pop music.

In 2015, their song "you (mora ver.)" was featured in a commercial for mora, and emaru herself appeared in the commercial.

In 2017, they collaborated with composer Subarashii Kawashima to release "cage out," a pop performance based on John Cage's work.

In 2020, macaroom crowdfunded their album "kodomono odoriko" in collaboration with Shuyo Knows (formerly known as Tama). In 2021, they teamed up with Shuyo Knows to produce the original soundtrack for the NHK TV drama "Hoshi to Lemon no Heya," contributing the theme song "Tsuki ga Miteta yo," which is also included in "kodomono odoriko." In 2022, they launched the YouTube music show "Makachiku Station" together with Shuyo Knows.

In 2023, macaroom independently produced the soundtrack for the NHK TV drama "Seiri no Ojisan to Sono Musume."

Macaroom has released several studio albums, including "room-103" in 2010, "homephone TE" in 2016, and "swimming classrooms" in 2018. They have also released the EP "cage out" in 2017 and various digital singles, such as "kodomono odoriko," "Body of Water," "hong kong," "hole," and "Oo La La," among others.
