Folktronica (sometimes called ) is a genre of music comprising elements of and , often featuring acoustic instrument samples — especially stringed instruments — and incorporating rhythms. Key recordings include: Four Tet's Pause (2001), Tunng's Mother’s Daughter and Other Songs (2005) and Caribou's The Milk of Human Kindness (2005).

The label "folktronica" seems to have originated in the British press, having come to encompass performers and bands that include elements of ambient electronica, folk, jazz, classical, and hip-hop. In 2001, postmodern pop artist Momus released an album titled Folktronic deliberately exploring (and satirizing) the fusion.
