Hi, I have seen that you have listened Ty Segall, I just made a post of them in my blog, we share some music tastes, some of them are Thee Oh Sees, Sufjan Stevens and Wilco. If you want, you can check my Facebook page (Rock&Film or @andrestellez84) and my blog (http://rocknuevo1.blogspot.mx/). It's in Spanish but almost all the music I suggest is in English, I recommend some movies too. Bye and thank you if you decide to visit me.

Good haul! I got Oceansize and A Place To Bury Strangers 7"s (£1 each, get in!), Japandroids - Celebration Rock (2 piece feel good rock, worth a listen if you're unfamiliar), PVT - Church of no magic, ABBA - Thank You For The Music (Spanish version), Panda Bear - Tomboy (4 LP boxset was £17 in Rise; almost definitely a misprice and too tempting to pass up).

Hey man, no worries. Mouth to Mouth was pretty good. Ben Frost stole the show for me, never seen anything that loud or intense before. My jaw was on the floor. I was gutted not to play that show, but I was playing a gig in another band that night which got booked first. Bummer. In Cheltenham next Friday for Matt birthday (a week late), you around?

I saw your comment in the Rodriguez shoutbox. If you haven't yet, you should really see the documentary about him called "Searching for Sugar Man", which is the reason of his sudden success. Cheers!

Nice one, yeah we're playing it! I still have no idea what I'm going as either. Got a ghost costume in reserve. Doesn't match the zombie theme but I've been too busy to sort anything else. Swans are really different depending on what album you go for. My Father Will Guide etc. is probably the one I'd go for first. Not as angry and distorted as the older stuff but intense in a different way. From there, go for The Seer if you want someting similar but a bit weirder, Soundtracks For The Blind if you want just weirder, then everything bar Various Failures is heavy and intense. Not saying you won't like it, but it's pretty heavy and intense and has put people off them completely before.

Hey man, tricks are good thanks! Busy, but good. How are things with you? Nice one on that Cult vinyl. Haven't heard much of their other stuff tbh, but that track's great. Thanks for the kind words about the tape, we just released a second one and it's free to download on our bandcamp site (or Spotify). You going to the party at your brothers house next Friday? See you there if so.

Nice! I see it's scrobbling some stuff you listened to earlier. :) I have Jonathan Wilson's album but have only listened to it a couple of times. So, my agenda for tomorrow is clean my apartment while listening to Micah and Jonathan.

Hmmm. Have you tried an uninstall and reinstall? I did that when I was trying to figure out why my iPod wasn't scrobbling. I don't think I've ever had a problem with scrobbling from my media players on my laptop though. You can always try the Help forum too even thought I'm not sure how helpful it would be. :) I am familiar with Micah but I haven't listened to him in quite a while. Thanks for reminding me of his existence. :)

Hi! I see we have J. Tillman in common. I'd suggest checking out his new album, Fear Fun. His new moniker is Father John Misty.

Hey man, sorry for the super-late reply. It was great to see you and it was probably the most fun I've had at a show ever. Have you got a Flickr account or anything? Could always put the photos up on there

Yeah I felt the same way, I'd have loved to get a few of the RSD releases but my bank account is way better off as a result. I've been a bit quiet on the gig front recently but I bought a ticket to the Sunday of the ATP Portishead festival at Alexandra Palace. Herman Dune and Chems sounds good, still haven't seen either of them live but heard good things about both. Festival wise I'm sticking to End of the Road this year. Mogwai, Micah P Hinson, Beirut, Willy Mason plus loads more. I reckon End of the Road would be right up your street actually, wide range of music and a great relaxed atmosphere. Take it easy!

Hey mate, all is well here and the record collection is growing nicely; how was it moving yours to your new flat? I'm not looking forward to having to do that any time soon... Definitely going to see AJJ again, dead easy to get to as I'm still in Reading and they were so good last time. Did you get anything good on Record Store Day this year? Bournemouth and Reading had bugger all but I heard Rise was pretty good. Take care!

To answer your three johns question; Never and Always is the name of a song taken from their album The Death Of Everything, and was released as a single. It's a good album, but if you're new to the johns I think it'd be better to start with Atom Drum Bop or The World By Storm, which are their first two studio albums. Death Of Everything makes more sense once you're familiar with the johns earlier material, but you should deffo give it a listen! Also recommended are live in chicago and eat your sons.

Thought you might be interested to know that Andrew Jackson Jihad and Kepi Ghoulie are both coming back to the UK in May. Only London, Manchester and Glasgow announced so far (I think) but more to come.

I was going to get tickets but it clashes with another gig I'm going to so I passed on the opportunity. Hawk is Howling is pretty good, "I'm Jim Morrisson, I'm dead" especially, and I'm waiting for a physical release of the new album before I make a judgement.

I saw Paul in there the other day but he was deep in conversation with another guy so I left them to it, I'll catch him next time I'm in there though. I was really tempted to go for that Mogwai vinyl but they're one of those bands where I don't know whether a live album would do them justice and £25 is the same price as a ticket to actually see them next month anyway haha.

I got them from this site: http://www.owlandbear.com/wilco-archive/ VERY useful site, has tonnes of bootlegs. The YHF demos are down the bottom under "Compilations/Demos", they are in some whack format so you'll have to convert them to mp3s. Enjoy!

The collection is going really well thanks, going to be a pain to take it up to uni though but totally worth it. Pretty certain it's going to double in size thanks to Readings Oxfam music so I'm excited for that.

Cheers for your shout. Completely missed it. Not sure how given how much time I spent on here! Glad I'm not the only one who thought that. Too many 'indie scindie, chat through the band' types methinks. Btw I see you've been recommended Chuck Ragan below. I'd echo that. A fantastic album.

Sorry mate, got the message a bit late but all is well my end. How're things with you? My usual chilled out Saturday music is Boards Of Canada - Music Has A Right To Children for electronic, Nick Drake - Pink Moon for acoustic or Chuck Ragan - Gold Country if you want something light but a bit more upbeat.

A pretty good one from all of their recent albums - i think. They were only on for an hour and a half and i've read that they do 3 hour sets occasionally. You're in for a treat though as both times i've seen them have been amazing.

I've never heard of Gong which is surprising because I'm into psychedelic 60's stuff, can you recommend an album to a newcomer? Never heard any of Yeasayer's stuff either to be honest. What like? I've only got Astronomy For Dogs by The Aliens, I'll get around to getting Luna eventually though.

I hadn't heard of Darwin Deez no but I checked out a few songs on Youtube. I liked Bad Day & The City, sounds a bit like something by CAKE don't you think? The Aliens are basically The Beta Band without Steve yeah, if you like them I highly recommend a Glasgow band called The Owsley Sunshine, their albums were all free on their website about a year ago, not sure if they still are though. The Flaming Lips, Cosmic Rough Riders, Super Furry Animals, The Beta Band's first album...you're probably familiar with all them though? Another 2 of my favourite albums are 'Dial M For Monkey' by Bonobo and 'Lost Horizons' by Lemonjelly, check them out if you can, nice chilled-out downtempo trip hoppy stuff with some pyschedelic acoustic folky overtones!

Under the KBT name there's only 2 albums but he also released an album under the name Black Affair in 2008, I haven't heard it though, I don't even know what kind of music it is. He's got a solo album coming out next month under his own name, Steve Mason.

King Biscuit Time - No Style. Standout tracks are Time To Get Up, Niggling Discrepancy & I Walk The Earth. There's also an ambient track I like that reminds me of early Aphex Twin, the rest of it is decent, harldy standout but worth getting I'd say. Have you heard Black Gold?
