one of the sexiest albums ever. along with the Verve's "Storm in Heaven", this album is fun to listen to when you're about 'celebrate your differences' with your lover. this is an important cornerstone in my musical development as well.

Life-changing album for me; a desert island disc without a doubt from the first play on my cassette Walkman...I caught NIN|JA in San Diego a couple months ago - never before had I such an emotional reaction at a concert...besides the fact they sounded unbelievably tight, Jane's played *every* *song* from Nothing's Shocking as if it was my own personal 20 year reunion with them and that record...in a word, phenomenal.

I don't think the greatness of this album can be overstated. "Ritual de lo Habitual" is fantastic, but this is their true masterpiece.

Huge. Punk was dying down by then...88/89. Remember it well. Then these guys came along. I remember walking through the dorms at college seeing mainstream looking guys listening to this. I wasn't sure if that meant punk was really dead or if it was a good thing. But it's a positive thing. There's just no denying JA. Even the hairspray metal band wankers were listening.
